Job Summary:
The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining and administering the organization’s computer networks and related computing environments. This role involves configuring, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Maintenance:
Install, configure, and support the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet system.
Monitor network performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Network Security:
Implement and manage security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
Monitor networks to detect security breaches and ensure the security of the organization’s network.
Develop and enforce policies for standardizing network security and access protocols.
Troubleshooting and Support:
Provide network support and resolve issues for end-users and IT staff.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
Assist in network problem resolution by working with the network service providers.
System Upgrades:
Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records.
Plan and implement network upgrades and improvements.
Ensure that all network hardware and software are up-to-date with the latest patches and versions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
Prepare and maintain records of network configurations, cabling layouts, and other pertinent information.
Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics.
Vendor Management:
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network equipment procurement and maintenance.
Evaluate new technologies and recommend upgrades and improvements.
Manage vendor contracts and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
Backup and Recovery:
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for network-related incidents.
Perform regular backups and recovery tests to ensure data integrity and system availability.
Ensure that backup systems are operational and data recovery processes are tested regularly.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
Proficiency in network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls.
Experience with network monitoring tools and network troubleshooting.
Knowledge of network security practices and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
Valid UAE residence visa (if applicable).
Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Professional appearance and grooming standards.
