As a Fuel Station Fuel Pump Attendant, your primary responsibility is to provide exceptional customer service to fuel station customers and ensure that fuel dispensing operations are conducted safely and efficiently. Your job responsibilities may include:
Dispensing fuel: You will be responsible for operating the fuel pumps and dispensing fuel to customers’ vehicles according to their requests. This may involve handling different types of fuel, such as gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuels, and ensuring accurate measurement of fuel quantities.
Cash handling: You may be responsible for handling cash and processing customer payments, including accepting cash, credit cards, or other forms of payment, and providing accurate change. You should be proficient in basic math skills to handle transactions and maintain accurate cash registers.
Monitoring fuel inventory: You may need to monitor fuel inventory levels, track fuel deliveries, and notify the appropriate personnel when fuel supplies need to be replenished. This may involve coordinating with the fuel station manager or other staff to ensure that fuel supply is maintained at optimal levels.
Safety procedures: You will need to adhere to strict safety procedures and guidelines to ensure that fuel dispensing operations are conducted safely. This may include proper handling of fuel, handling of hazardous materials, and following established safety protocols, such as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting routine safety checks.
Customer service: Providing excellent customer service is a critical aspect of your role. You will be expected to greet customers, address their inquiries or concerns, and provide information about fuel products, services, and promotions in a courteous and professional manner.
Maintenance and cleanliness: You may be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the fuel station area, including the fuel pumps, fuel islands, and other areas. This may involve regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as cleaning fuel spills, removing trash, and ensuring that fuel dispensing equipment is functioning properly.
Record keeping: You may be required to maintain accurate records of fuel sales, cash transactions, and other relevant information as per the fuel station’s policies and procedures. This may involve completing daily, weekly, and monthly reports and submitting them to the appropriate personnel.
Emergency response: In the event of an emergency, such as a fuel spill, fire, or other safety incidents, you may be responsible for following established emergency response procedures, including notifying the appropriate personnel, shutting off fuel dispensing operations, and assisting customers as needed.
Compliance: You will need to adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to fuel dispensing operations, safety, and customer service. This may include compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures set by the fuel station or fuel company.
Training: You may be required to undergo training programs related to fuel dispensing operations, safety, customer service, and other job-related skills to ensure that you are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform your job effectively.
