• Familiar with and follow the safe system of work and the details and limitations recorded in the lifting plan • Trained and competent (if not informs Crane Co-ordinator and Section Manager), • The safe working load (SWL) is never exceeded, other than for the express purpose of testing a crane under the supervision of a competent person. There are no exceptions to this. • Cranes do not operate in any weather conditions that exceed the limit stated for that type of crane • The assessment and planning of lifting operations is undertaken and complies with the requirements of the company lifting operations procedure.Before starting work Lifting Supervisor will ensure that:1. A suitable and sufficient risk assessment has been carried out, which considers all aspects of the lift including environmental factors such as the proximity of obstructions, underground services, overhead cables and structures, 2. Lift plans and method statements for the lifting operation and developed as appropriate, 3. Appropriate protection measures are put in place, 4. A current thorough examination and/or test record has been issued and is available for each item of lifting equipment and accessory, 5. The SWL of the lifting equipment and accessories is adequate for the weight of the load, 6. All lifting accessories are clearly marked with their safe working load, 7. Correct and up-to-date copies of the Sling Chart and Safe Working Load tables are available, when using multi-leg slings, 8. The method of communication is agreed and understood by everyone involved in the lift, 9. A suitable rack is available for storing slings, etc. when they are not in use, 10. A trained and competent rigger is available, 11. All personnel involved in the lifting operation have been briefed and understand the risks, methods or work and the equipment to be used including emergency arrangements, 12. The appropriate permissions have been gained if it is necessary to position any crane on the public highway (or other public place) to carry out lifting operations, 13. The crane will be capable of lifting the required loads at the maximum required raduis of operation, 14. The work area is kept free of obstructions, particularly where the crane operates on rails, 15. The weight of each load is known, and that the correct lifting accessories are available, 16. Check that there are no restrictions on the access, i.e. check size(s) of vehicles for rigging/derigging, 17. All necessary precautions with regards to live overhead electric cables have been taken, 18. All work areas are adequately lit, 19. Check that warning has been given of the slewing activities and that property has been protected, as necessary, 20. Check that there is a rescue plan in place and that it is acceptable in terms of practicality, 21. Check the competency, including training and qualifications, of the competent person involved in lifting operations.Requirements: • Minimum 3 years’ experience as lifting supervisor • Required lifting supervisor safety, rigger and signalman certificate • Deeper understanding of load charts, different types of jibs, lifting clamps and load angles/lifting angles, LG specifications • Knowledge of different types of rigging methods and selection of different types of lifting gears for any special needs • Experience in heavy lifting objects • Understand on different types of lifting clamps and their safe usages • Good organizational and interpersonal skills • Positive thinking, self-motivated, proactive and committed • Team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision
